Public funded battery factory
There’s stiff competition for the worst corporate welfare deal in Canadian history. But in 2023 Volkswagen was handed $16 billion to build a $7-billion electric vehicle battery factory.
The government talked about the 3,000 jobs the corporate welfare will create. But that means each job will cost taxpayers more than $5 million. A better jobs program would be to hand each worker a winning lottery ticket.
