Luxury offices for Sweden’s municipalities and regions
SKR, the Swedish association of local authorities and regions, is planning to spend huge sums on building itself a new office in the centre of Stockholm. Exactly how much money is involved, SKR does not wish to reveal, despite the fact that this is our tax money. It is likely to be in the region of several billion SEK. SKR is not bound by the principle of public access to official documents as it is not a government agency.
This grates when SKR is sounding the alarm about the economic difficulties that lie ahead as fewer and fewer people have to support more and more people, and when some of the country’s municipalities and regions are running a deficit while spending millions on luxury offices for themselves.
